Fall Favourites

Hey everyone! Since the last time I did a favourites post was in August, I decided to do a Fall Favourites, and highlight everything I’ve been loving lately! I feel like this season has flown by, and we are already heading into December. I hope everyone has been well and that life has been treating you good. For me, I feel like I’ve been riding a roller coaster of emotions, and it’s just starting to slow down now. But here’s to hoping that this year finishes strong, and that it’s nothing but blessings on blessings in 2019 🙂 (Also, I’m going to try and keep this post short and sweet because I actually have quite a few things I want to mention, and y’all know I love going in depth)

IMG_8884.JPG

Hepburn glasses from EyeBuyDirect

I feel like I’m obliged to say this since I work at an optometrist’s office, but you should avoid buying glasses online (if you can) because measurements could be off and it can ruin your vision! BUT. I did it anyways, because my vision is so bad, and if I wanted to buy a pair of glasses at an optical place, my lenses alone would be like $300+ dollars. Hennyways, I’m loving these glasses because they’re clear and I think the frame is super flattering on my face. I feel as if the clear is both neutral enough to wear with anything, but also makes a statement on my face. The best of both worlds. I love anything multifunctional!

You Are A Badass at Making Money – Jen Sincero

I really loved Jen’s first book, You Are A Badass, so I was really excited to get my hands on this. I love her books in general because they are all about how your mindset can really change your life and affect it in more ways than you may be aware of. Basically, if you want to be rich (and don’t lie – we ALL do) this book is really helpful in creating the mindset you need to be rich, and to be in the right mindset to receive money (it will make more sense if you actually read the book.)

BDG Girlfriend High Rise Cropped Jeans

If there’s one thing you should know about me fashion-wise, it’s that I hate wearing jeans. These jeans have really changed the game for me. They are high rise, which I really love because they look really flattering on me, and they are a girlfriend fit. Which means they aren’t super tight like skinny jeans, but not super baggy like most boyfriend jeans. They are the perfect balance of flattering and comfortable!! And they are quite soft for a pair of jeans (although I’m not sure if it’s because these were hand-me-downs from my cousin and had been lived in before I owned them, or if it’s because they actually came like this).

Fenty Beauty Matchstix Trio – Medium

This was truly a spur of the moment purchase during the VIB sale, but I have no regrets whatsoever. It’s super travel friendly, because the sticks are magnetic, and if you’re pretty lowkey with your makeup, this is all you would need because it comes with a concealer stick, contour stick, and highlighter stick. Ya girl is all about convenience. These are my favourite because you can’t go wrong – easy application, good blendability and color pay off and (like I said), convenient!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation – Cashew

Once again, another spur of the moment purchase (Sephora is the place where my self-control goes to die), but no regrets as well. I understand the hype about this foundation you guys!!! It’s medium coverage, but definitely still super buildable. It lasts all day, and doesn’t look like shit at the end of it. I always get compliments when I wear this because it makes my skin look abnormally natural and dewy. I don’t find it to make me greasy whatsoever. I’m even able to get away with only using setting spray to set this for the entire day. This is exactly what I look for in a foundation, and I’m not even hesitant to say that within the past couple of weeks, ELDW has reached holy grail status in my books.

Rupaul’s Drag Race

This is all I’ve been watching the past couple of weeks. I remember watching the first season in junior high, so I was hyped when Netflix started adding seasons! It’s an entertaining (or should I say, entertainting) show and I have so much respect for drag queens. They are some of the most creative, talented, brave and fierce people to walk this earth!!

And that’s it for my favourites! I’m hyped because tomorrow is December 1. Not only is it the first day of the month, it’s also the first day of Vlogmas!!!! And I’m definitely going to be doing it this year!!! Woo!!!! If you have any favourites that you would like to share with me, you can always let me know in the comments below! Also follow me on Instagram and tell me if you like the theme I have going on 😉

See you guys soon!

August Favourites

It’s officially the end of summer y’all. How was summer for you guys? Mine was amazing. I feel like I did so much, while also being able to experience full-time work for the first time. As much as I have loved the summer heat, I’m lowkey really excited to wear my winter parka (YES, I already know I’m going to regret saying that once Calgary hits -40C).

Influencer by Brittany Hennessy

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

I found out about this book months ago, and it got released at the end of July which gave me lots of time to devour it this month. This book is all about how influencers, bloggers and the like can take their platform to the next level. Full of tips, tricks and insight on the industry from Brittany Hennessy. She’s the senior director of influencer strategy and talent partnerships at Hearst Magazine Digital Media. So she knows what she’s talking about. I loved this book because I genuinely learned valuable information that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. I’ve been utilizing some of the things I’ve learned from this book, and I’m already seeing growth (mind you, it’s not a crazy amount of followers/engagement, but it’s constant and that’s what matters to me!).

I think that regardless of how many followers one has, any person who is interested in using their blog or Instagram page as a side hustle can benefit from this book. It covers everything from creating quality content, attracting followers and negotiating deals with brands. Truly valuable information.

Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser

A45779E0-5C49-49A0-8A91-B6B184CC5439.JPG

This is something I picked up from the Glossier showroom when I went to New York in June (If you’re interested in seeing the things I got up to in NYC, head to my Instagram! My whole NYC trip has it’s own story highlight on my profile). This cleanser is perfect for those with normal or sensitive skin. It reminds me a lot of Cetaphil, because it’s so gentle on my skin, but still super effective in the sense that it cleanses and keeps my skin moisturized. If you’re looking for something that will fight acne, or help with oily skin, this is most likely not the cleanser for you.

I only use this cleanser in the morning, and I apply it on a dry face.

Glossier Boy Brow – Black

99E73FDD-2A78-4947-9A22-D040EA7589A0.JPG

Another thing I picked up from the Glossier showroom! I bought it because my cousin said it was her holy grail brow gel, and her brows are ALWAYS on fleek, so I figured that this would work for me. Long story short, it made it onto my monthly favourites, so you know I LOVE this. I’m so sad I didn’t get more than one (I’m pretty sure she picked up like 3 when we went).

The thing that sets Boy Brow apart from other brow gel products that I’ve tried is that the formula is wax based. My brows literally don’t budge when I use this, which makes it perfect for a night out, or for a full day of doing errands and running around.

Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50

6C76615C-6BC4-4ACE-8C94-7B6725CB46D7.JPG

My sister brought this back for me after her trip from Japan. This can be worn alone like a normal SPF, or under makeup. The formula is watery (like the name states), which makes it easy to distribute on your face, but it dries down kind of tacky. I think this is  a big plus because 1) it doesn’t make your face oily and 2) you could definitely use this as a primer!! I love multi-use products!

The Greatest Showman (Movie and Soundtrack)

greatest-showman-movie-review-1.jpg

Okay, so I’m a little late to hop on The Greatest Showman bandwagon but WOW I understand the hype now. CJ and I watched it this month, and the movie had me humming, laughing and tearing up.  Basic synopsis: A guy starts his own circus, and it follows the trials and triumphs that him and his troupe go through. But it’s also so much more than that. And it’s also based on a true story.

I’m not usually into musical movies, but I loved this one. The soundtrack is amazing, and it’s constantly on repeat. (This Is Me really makes me feel like I can do anything you guys. It’s my power jam. Listen to it and try to tell me it doesn’t make you feel powerful and courageous!)

Best Shot

Best+Shot+3.jpg

This is a 8 episode docu-series on Youtube that Lebron James produced. (It just ended, so if you wanted to binge watch the series, you can). It’s follows the real story of a high school basketball team from Newark, NJ on their journey to the state championships. You learn a lot about the players and the coach, and I couldn’t help but root for them. I don’t play or watch sports, but Best Shot really took me through the motions of loving a team. Y’all, this series really made me bawl my eyes out.

This also humbled me a lot because it made me realize how lucky I am to live in suburbia in Canada. I’ve never had to worry about poverty, ending up in the streets and having my friends killed or my parents incarcerated. But it also made me respect them so much more. These people go through a lot every day, and I hope only good things come their way.

Terrace House – Opening New Doors

60a0b3f15c79530ec29583dee823d01f.jpg

My friends got me addicted to this show. The best way I could describe it would be like Japanese Big Brother, without the competitions, eliminations and prize money. It’s also produced way better, and has hilarious commentators. Six strangers live in a house together, and we watch them adjust to living together. It has drama and romance.

I’m gonna be honest, it does start out a little slow, but as you get further into the episodes, you can’t help but have favourite housemates. I’m currently waiting for part 4 to get uploaded on Netflix!

Aaaaand that’s it for my August favourites! If you would like to share some of your favourite things with me this month, you know where to leave your comments! I hope the rest of the year treats us all well. Big thank you to all the people who still rock with me, and a shoutout to all my new followers 🙂 I hope you all like it here and look forward to my future posts.

February Favourites!

My favourites for this month are honestly kind of random and personal, but I hope you may be able to discover something that you like! I feel like ever since school has picked up, it has been very difficult to sit down and write about the things I want to write about. I’m trying to get into the swing of things, or at least make another transition into blogging regularly, and I hope you all enjoy it. I have a couple of ideas, so stay tuned hehe. I want to get my blog feeling like itself (or myself?) again.

Anyways, enjoy!

January Favourites!

It has been a long time since I’ve made a monthly favourite post! But I’m back (and I’m better, want you bad as everrrrr…. jk). This will contain some favourites that I’ve been using the entire month, and some that I have been loving for the past couple months, but have never actually spoken about yet. So sit back, get your scrolling finger ready, and let’s go through my favourites of this month!

May Favourites

Another month has flown by! May was a really good month for me. ALBOE turned 1, I got the chance to spend a lot of quality time with people and through keeping up with consistent workouts, I’ve been feeling myself getting stronger and seeing those baby gainzzzz come in! Of course, I’m still beginning, but wow, I’ve been feeling really good lately. I think it also has a lot to do with the nice weather. But anyways. Here are all the things I’ve been loving this month. You’ll notice this list is pretty random and all over the place tbh, but I think that makes monthly favourites posts really fun.

March Favourites

I apologize if you’re seeing this post again! I completely forgot I had it scheduled for today at 12, but I also forgot to insert pictures and edit the post. My mistake hehe.

Another month done! I’ve felt so refreshed this month, and I’ve been really investing more time in my blog (I hope you can tell hehe). I challenged myself to stick to a posting schedule, every Tuesday and Friday, and it’s been working out pretty well for me. It forces me to spend more time than ever on my blog, and come up with creative ideas, and it keeps me accountable. I think from now on, I’m going to try and stick with it and post every Tuesday and Friday and see where that leads me.  Hopefully it also gives you something to look forward to (or just something to read) on those days. I’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback this month, and it really motivates me, so thanks to everyone for their kind words!

To be honest, this months faves are kind of random since I didn’t try many makeup/beauty products this month. Nonetheless (wow I really just used that word), I hope you enjoy, and let me know about some of your favourites!

I didn’t do a January favourites, so I’ll be combining January and February together for my current favourites. Enjoy, and let me know some of the things you’ve been loving lately!

December Favorites

December flew by. Can’t believe it’s aready the end of the month! Just a couple more days until my birthday! But honestly. This month has been so crazy, as it usually is. Stress has been high because of shcool, but I’m pleased to say that I did extremely well in all of my classes, so the hard work paid off. Also, as I’m sure many of you can relate to, I’ve been caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season (check out my Vlogmas vlogs if you haven’t already!). And as if life couldn’t get any more crazier, I picked up food poisoning for the first time in my life, and let me tell you, it was not a fun experience. I would not wish that on my worst enemy!

But you didn’t come here for a review of my month, you came here for my December favorites! So without further ado, here they are!

Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish – Bare Bones

2016-12-31 01.46.25 1.jpg

This colour has been on my nails this entire month, which never usually happens. I really like the way it looks against my skin and it’s neutral so it will definitely work with anything. Not the most festive colour, especially considering that it was December, but you all know I’m a simple gal. The only thing about myself that I like to be flashy is my highlight okuurrrrr.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster

2016-12-31 02.22.12 1.jpg

Okay so I’ve been using this for a couple months but I think this has made such a difference in my skin and has made it’s way into my everyday skincare army. It really helps with hydration and smoothness of my skin and I think it has helped a bit in making my skin brighter. The orangey/citrus scent of this is a refreshing burst and (I think) adds to how good my skin feels. Then again I could just be coming up with ways to persuade you to try this out. Who knows.

Vaseline Rosy lips

2016-12-31 02.22.13 1.jpg

I use Vaseline Cocoa Radiant lotion and got this as a free sample with it. It’s pretty much just Vaseline for your lips, but with a very light tint of pink and is rose scented. I usually don’t like rose scents but the scent of this is very light so I don’t mind it.

Too Faced Natural Matte palette

2016-12-31 02.22.14 1.jpg

I’ve talked about this pretty much everywhere but here it is again. This is my first high end eyeshadow palette and I think this is perfect for me. Perfect selection of warm neutrals that are all matte and extremely buttery. And the packaging is perfect, I could stare at it all day!

And that’s it. I can’t believe it’s the last day of 2016. I hope you all have had a fulfilling year and that 2017 will be even better for you. Realistically though, you will put in the effort to make 2017 a better one. Don’t sit around wishing for a measure of time to make your life better, get up and do it yourself!! I’ll see you all in the new year, take care!

November Favourites

November has been a crazy month (but I feel like that’s what I said in my October favourites… and every other favourites post I’ve made) and I haven’t been as active as I would like for that reason. I was looking at my planner and realized there’s only two more weeks left of school, like this semester has just flown by. Regardless, here are some things I’ve been loving this month!

Ardell 120 Demi lashes

2016-11-27 03.33.22 1.jpgI had the worst luck with lashes in October. I went through three pairs in the span of two weeks! Take it from me, never fall asleep or cry with fake lashes on. Anyways, as most of you know, the Ardell Baby Wispies were my go to lash, but I swear, every time I went to WalMart they were A L W A Y S sold out. I even resorted to going to an actual drugstore, where I knew they would be more expensive, because thats how desperate I was. They weren’t there either, so I ended up just buying these the next time I went to WalMart. They’re a bit longer than the Baby Wispies, which I didn’t think I’d like, but I don’t mind the length. They’re pretty natural looking, so if I wear them without eyeliner, it kind of looks like I’m wearing lash extensions. These are one of those lashes that I always get compliments on whenever I wear them!

Maison Margiela REPLICA – Lipstick On

2016-11-27 03.33.21 1.jpg

I am currently on a quest to find a new scent, so when I placed my order during the VIB sale, I added this perfume sample into my cart. I’m not even going to try and attempt to describe the scent because I know I’ll fail really badly, but I will say that when I wear this, I feel mature and feminine. It’s not the lightest scent, but it isn’t overpowering either and it lingers all day. I haven’t smelled anything like it and I think that’s why I like it so much. I don’t think I’ll purchase the full size just yet because I haven’t gotten around to testing out other scents and the full size of this is $135! But I have been wearing it everyday for the last part of November and I’ve really been enjoying it.

Momentum

Screen Shot 2016-11-27 at 3.39.27 PM.png

I was introduced to this Google Chrome plugin earlier this month and I really like it. It replaces your home/new tab page with a nice picture of a location the current time. It also displays other things, depending on what you set it to. Mine displays the temperature, a to-do list and a quote. It’s just something nice to look at that helps you be a little bit more productive.

Bruno Mars – 24k Magic

Bruno_Mars_-_24K_Magic_(Official_Album_Cover).png

I was disappointed at first because there are only 9 songs on the album, but my brother pointed out that it’s about quality, not quantity. And this is definitely a quality album. I was seriously in love with every song. The entire album sounds like it was made in the 80s/90s, and I love old school music. I couldn’t stop playing it as soon as I heard it, it was pretty much on repeat the entire month. You all need to take a listen!!! My favourite song is That’s What I Like.

With the end of November and the start of December, it means one thing… Vlogmas! I don’t know if I’ll be doing it again this year, but we’ll see how it goes. Also I CANNOT believe that 2016 is almost over. I remember the first day of the year as if it was yesterday. So many things have changed since then, but I guess that’s the beauty / curse of time. Let me know some of your favourites this month and until then take care! I hope this month hasn’t been as stressful for you as it has been for me. Which also reminds me that I really need to start taking better care of myself. The effects of stress have been showing in my body and mind and it isn’t pleasant… Maybe I should take it easy on the wine LOL.

October Favorites

October was a crazy month. It began really slow and then next thing I knew it was already over. It’s probably because my school schedule has been so crazy, that I barely notice time go by. Besides that though, October was great. I celebrated Thanksgiving with my family, got to see my all time favourite band The 1975 for the second time (and currently still feeling the post concert depression HARD) and my cousin turned 18 and had a debut (a big coming of age birthday party for filipinas when they turn 18 haha) and it was sooo much fun. Anyways, here are my favourites for this month.

KathleenLights

This is kinda random because pretty much everyone and their mama knows who KathleenLights is or has at least heard of her. I’ve always heard of her but I’ve never actually watched any of her videos. When I was looking for inspiration for eye makeup, her tutorial using only elf products popped up, and after I watched that one, I binge watched all her videos (not all, but a lot). I love her personality in her videos and how genuine she seems and I think she’s one of my favourite Youtubers now.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Mess Around

2016-10-30 02.22.44 1.jpg

Ever since I got this colour, Beeper has taken a backseat as my everyday lip colour. Mess Around is one of those “your lips but better” shade, for me at least. I like it because it’s very natural looking on me and I personally think the colour looks very nice on me. The main reason why I like it is because the formula of this is amazing. I think it’s safe to say that the Ultra Satin Lips are my new Colourpop fave. They are very long lasting for something that doesn’t dry matte and it is soooo so so comfortable on my lips. I never feel like they are cracking or have the life sucked out of them. I’m pretty sad that this was the only Ultra Satin Lip that I purchased from my Colourpop order. I want more!!!!!

Tweezerman Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover

2016-10-30 02.22.41 1.jpg

You should know that I do not trust those at home moustache remover lotions like Nair. I have this fear that I’m going to get a really bad chemical burn and my upper lip is going to stay red for like a week. I am also pretty cheap LOL I don’t want to pay someone to wax my moustache off if I can do it for free. My cousin actually got this first and raved about it so I wanted one of my own, so I don’t have to be ghetto and pluck my moustache off. It takes some getting used to, but it is really good at getting every hair and takes less time. PLUS this came with little tweezers which I was also really exited about because I have wanted Tweezerman tweezers for the longest time!

Urban Decay de-slick Setting Spray

2016-10-30 02.22.42 1.jpg

I hate that I love this so much because I’m gonna have to go back to Sephora and spend $38 on the full sized bottle. MY POOR WALLET. It’s okay though because this is God’s gift to my skin. I noticed a dramatic difference in how oily my skin is at the end of the day when I use this. My skin had almost no trace of excess shine, which is something that usually never happens when I only set my makeup with powder.

elf Contouring Brush

2016-10-30 02.22.45 1.jpg

This may be the most dense brush I have ever came across in my life thus far. If you really like an intense contoured look, this brush will help you achieve it no problem. Like I said, it is EXTREMELY dense so it’ll pack on the product  easily and the shape of the brush fits perfectly into the hollows of your cheeks.  I guess the only downside to this is that the density of the brush and the short bristles make it kinda hard to blend product. I don’t mind it though because I will just go in with my NARS Ita brush and blend everything out. It is also really good for nose contouring. Not to mention this brush is $7! For the quality and user friendliness (is that a term you can use for makeup brushes?) of this brush, I think that it’s a steal!

Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation – 06 Sand Beige

2016-10-30 02.22.27 1.jpg

I won’t say much about this foundation because I’ll be posting  a full review on it soon. But I’m sure you’ve all heard about this and I just want to let yall know that there is a reason why everyone love this foundation. It’s definitely become one of my favourite foundations!

As usual, let me know of any favourites you’ve had this month, I would love to check them out. Take care!

July Favourites

I have another short and sweet monthly favourites post for you guys. Can’t believe I’ve already written three of these!  Also can’t believe that July is already over. I still have such a long list of things I still want to do before school starts and the fact that I haven’t been checking them off is giving me slight anxiety. Anyways, let me know what some of your favourites were for July, and check mine out as well 🙂

June Favourites

I can’t believe June is already over yall. I feel like so much of the summer has already passed, and I feel like I still have so many things to do! Maybe the fact that I was still in school this month made it feel like such a fast month. That being said, I’ve been really focussed on school this month so I haven’t had a lot of time to buy and try products but AYY I finished my class with an A!! So I plan on rewarding myself with some products I’ve really been wanting, so stay tuned for that hehe. Anyways, here are my favourites for June!

Hidden In The Jungle – Adult colouring book postcards

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

When I wasn’t trying to finish a paper or studying for my final this month, I was colouring the postcards in this book as a way to pass time and relieve stress. I like the fact that these are postcards, because when you’re done colouring the pictures, you can send them to your friends and family. And I know a lot of people love receiving things in the mail, so this is a nice way to surprise them and show them you care. Also I love the little jungle creatures I get to colour! Unfortunately, Canada Post is going on strike in a couple of days, so I won’t be able to send the postcards I finished colouring any time soon.

Batiste Big & Bouncy XXL Volume Dry Shampoo

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Shameless confession, I’m pretty sure I use dry shampoo more than regular shampoo. And of all the dry shampoos I’ve used, Batiste is the only one that really works for me. It takes away the oiliness of my hair, makes my hair feel relatively clean without feeling like it’s weighed down by product and the formulas all smell really nice. I didn’t like this when I first tried it out because it adds texture to my hair that makes it feel kinda weird and starchy (LOL is that a texture?) I guess that’s how it adds volume to the hair and I just wasn’t used to it at first, but I’ve realized how well this really works because it makes my hair look like it’s full of life. Woo!

TONYMOLY sheet masks

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I like the Tonymoly masks better than the Faceshop ones because these actually fit my face!! There are fewer air bubbles on my face than what I normally get with a Faceshop mask and I feel like this makes a big difference because more areas of my skin are covered. I also really like the serum in these masks. While I can’t say that these masks give you instant results and help with the skin concerns that each mask is targeted for, I can say that the next day (because I usually use these masks at night) my skin still feels really smooth and bouncy. They have been perfect for helping my tired skin get a boost of freshness and just overall giving it a nice feeling. These are typically $5 each everywhere I’ve seen them sold in store, but I found some at UO for $3.75 each, and you can also buy them on Amazon in bulk, which is even more cheaper.

Maybelline Fit Me! Hydrate+Smooth Foundation

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

So if you’ve read any of my other posts, you might remember that I use this exact foundation and colour but in the matte+poreless formula. Well I ran out of that and went to go pick up another one but I swear at every single drugstore I was at, they didn’t have my colour in the matte+poreless formula. And it wasn’t that they were sold out or anything, they didn’t have the colour in the display at all. I don’t know if Maybelline discontinued it in my color or what but I was literally having a mild panic attack, so in my moment of desperation I just said yolo and bought it in the hydrate+smooth formula. And I’m not completely disappointed by it! In fact, I think this formula works better for my uncategorized skin type. I think it makes my skin look like it has more dimension, and not as flat as it does with the matte one. I also think it makes my skin look more radiant and gives it a more natural finish, because it doesn’t cling to my skin like the matte formula does. This does kind of exaggerate my oily spots though, but I find that I can fix that by putting a bit of setting powder on my oily spots and I’ll be good for the day. This formula has SPF in it though, so I probably wouldn’t wear it at places where there’s gonna be flash photography, like at a club event or a party or something, to avoid me looking like a ghost. But I think this is great for the summer because of the glowy, dewy finish I get (I’m not going to lie, it took sooo long for me to give dewy skin a try because I’ve had oily skin, and any signs of shine just make me feel like I got an oil slick goin on on my face, but I’ve really come to love it)

I have a bunch of products I want to buy, so if you guys have any suggestions of good tinted moisturizers or BB creams please let me know! I also really want to buy new concealer and lipstick (not like I need anymore) so let me know if you have any suggestions. And I hope yall had a good June!
