Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation Review

I just realized that it’s been a loong time since I’ve actually reviewed a product. I’ve been doing so many first impressions, but I feel like you cant use first impressions to base your opinion on a product. So I’m back with a new review! As you can read in the title, it’s on the Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation. I’ve heard really good things about this foundation and I’ve always been meaning to try it and now I’ve had the chance to (you might remember that I said I wasn’t going to be spending any money on makeup that I don’t need until 2017, but I actually ran out of foundation, so I needed a new one)

THE BASICS

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I got the colour 06 – Sand Beige

  • $12.88 CAD
  • Glass packaging with a pump
  • 8 shades
  • 1 fl. oz

CLAIMS

  • Medium to full coverage
  • Lightweight, oil-free formula
  • Long wearing, water-resisting and sweat-proof

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The colours range from 01 to 09 but for some reason there’s no 08? Like it goes from 01 to 07, skips 08 and then goes to 09. So technically there are only 8 shades in the range, which is good but there are no options for people with darker skin.

The foundation itself is quite thick and kind of reminds me of Kat Von D’s Lock-It Tattoo foundation. However when applied on the face, I didn’t find it to feel thick. It actually feels pretty light and like it’s your natural skin. It sets pretty quickly to a natural matte finish, but you do not look flat. I applied less than I normally would with other foundations because of the full coverage claim and found that it didn’t impact the coverage. You don’t need a lot to cover your face. Coverage is definitely buildable but the good thing about this foundation is that I found it to be full coverage on the first application. I added another layer and it was very full coverage, but since the formula is quite light, you can achieve the full coverage look without feeling or looking cakey. It covered up my dark circles and redness perfectly and I didn’t feel like I needed to take the extra step of putting on concealer to conceal any little spots (I did it anyways though LOL) This was a perfect colour match for me.

This is not flash friendly. I was taking a picture for my Brown and Gold Halo eye MOTD  and I didn’t include this picture because I am literally two different colours. It looks much more normal in person, I swear. I don’t know why it does that though because there’s no SPF in this foundation. LOL I’M ACTUALLY CRINGING LOOKING AT THIS PICTURE.

I wore this foundation to school, and since I didn’t use concealer, I didn’t bake or anything. To set the foundation, I just used the Urban Decay De-slick spray, but I found that my nose and the area around it were a bit shiny at the end of the day. Not extremely shiny, but there was no hiding the fact that I was oily. If you carry blotting sheets around with you on the regular, then just setting the foundation it with a good setting spray could definitely be an option for you, but for those of you who are a bit more oily (like myself) I would suggest using a powder before your setting spray, just to be on the safe side.

Poor quality picture but look how nice my skin is looking! And how cute we are!

I also wore this foundation to The 1975 concert and surprisingly enough, it wore pretty well throughout. I was jumping around and sweating and at the end of the night, there was no visible spots where my foundation had come off. You could still see my highlight and contour at the end of the night AND there was no visible signs of excess oil, which to me is CRAZY. It stayed in tact and still looked pretty good from far away. When I inspected my face up close though, you could kind of see that it was starting to kind of separate. Keep in mind that by the end of the day, I had the foundation on for about 12-ish hours because I had work in the morning before the concert and didn’t reapply my makeup for the concert, so I think the separation was probably just due to the fact that I had the foundation on literally all day.

FINAL THOUGHTS

All in all, I am blown away by this foundation. I think it might be my new favourite! I absolutely love the fact that although it’s a full coverage foundation, it’s a very natural finish. I’m not too oily but I’m also not extremely matte to the point where my face looks flat and lifeless. I would say that this foundation lives up to all it’s claims and is definitely worth every penny you pay for this. I’ve never tried any high end foundations, so I can’t really suggest what this could be a dupe for, but I feel like I don’t need to try a high end foundation any time soon because Milani really nailed pretty much everything about this foundation. I love it! 10/10!!

If you end up trying this out, let me know how it works for you. I am pretty sure you won’t be disappointed! Have a good rest of your day 🙂

October Favorites

October was a crazy month. It began really slow and then next thing I knew it was already over. It’s probably because my school schedule has been so crazy, that I barely notice time go by. Besides that though, October was great. I celebrated Thanksgiving with my family, got to see my all time favourite band The 1975 for the second time (and currently still feeling the post concert depression HARD) and my cousin turned 18 and had a debut (a big coming of age birthday party for filipinas when they turn 18 haha) and it was sooo much fun. Anyways, here are my favourites for this month.

KathleenLights

This is kinda random because pretty much everyone and their mama knows who KathleenLights is or has at least heard of her. I’ve always heard of her but I’ve never actually watched any of her videos. When I was looking for inspiration for eye makeup, her tutorial using only elf products popped up, and after I watched that one, I binge watched all her videos (not all, but a lot). I love her personality in her videos and how genuine she seems and I think she’s one of my favourite Youtubers now.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Mess Around

2016-10-30 02.22.44 1.jpg

Ever since I got this colour, Beeper has taken a backseat as my everyday lip colour. Mess Around is one of those “your lips but better” shade, for me at least. I like it because it’s very natural looking on me and I personally think the colour looks very nice on me. The main reason why I like it is because the formula of this is amazing. I think it’s safe to say that the Ultra Satin Lips are my new Colourpop fave. They are very long lasting for something that doesn’t dry matte and it is soooo so so comfortable on my lips. I never feel like they are cracking or have the life sucked out of them. I’m pretty sad that this was the only Ultra Satin Lip that I purchased from my Colourpop order. I want more!!!!!

Tweezerman Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover

2016-10-30 02.22.41 1.jpg

You should know that I do not trust those at home moustache remover lotions like Nair. I have this fear that I’m going to get a really bad chemical burn and my upper lip is going to stay red for like a week. I am also pretty cheap LOL I don’t want to pay someone to wax my moustache off if I can do it for free. My cousin actually got this first and raved about it so I wanted one of my own, so I don’t have to be ghetto and pluck my moustache off. It takes some getting used to, but it is really good at getting every hair and takes less time. PLUS this came with little tweezers which I was also really exited about because I have wanted Tweezerman tweezers for the longest time!

Urban Decay de-slick Setting Spray

2016-10-30 02.22.42 1.jpg

I hate that I love this so much because I’m gonna have to go back to Sephora and spend $38 on the full sized bottle. MY POOR WALLET. It’s okay though because this is God’s gift to my skin. I noticed a dramatic difference in how oily my skin is at the end of the day when I use this. My skin had almost no trace of excess shine, which is something that usually never happens when I only set my makeup with powder.

elf Contouring Brush

2016-10-30 02.22.45 1.jpg

This may be the most dense brush I have ever came across in my life thus far. If you really like an intense contoured look, this brush will help you achieve it no problem. Like I said, it is EXTREMELY dense so it’ll pack on the product  easily and the shape of the brush fits perfectly into the hollows of your cheeks.  I guess the only downside to this is that the density of the brush and the short bristles make it kinda hard to blend product. I don’t mind it though because I will just go in with my NARS Ita brush and blend everything out. It is also really good for nose contouring. Not to mention this brush is $7! For the quality and user friendliness (is that a term you can use for makeup brushes?) of this brush, I think that it’s a steal!

Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation – 06 Sand Beige

2016-10-30 02.22.27 1.jpg

I won’t say much about this foundation because I’ll be posting  a full review on it soon. But I’m sure you’ve all heard about this and I just want to let yall know that there is a reason why everyone love this foundation. It’s definitely become one of my favourite foundations!

As usual, let me know of any favourites you’ve had this month, I would love to check them out. Take care!

MOTD: Brown and Gold halo eye

I wanted to attempt to do a halo eye, and I know this is not the greatest halo eye out there but for a first timer, I think I did a really good job! I wasn’t planning on posting this (I don’t usually like to post twice a day haha) but I ended up really loving this look and will probably wear it when I get a chance. This seriously just motivates me to do more eyeshadow looks because I genuinely had so much fun creating this look!

*Side note: I need to invest in a better camera… taking pictures without natural light on my phone makes everything look so harsh and unflattering*

20161018_231445

20161018_231755-120161018_231748-120161018_231742-120161018_231854-1

I prepped my eyes with my Maybelline Fit Me concealer (I don’t have any eyeshadow primers, but I think this works pretty good, especially if you’re someone who doesn’t do eyeshadow regularly) and set it with some pressed powder. Then I used Shell from my Covergirl Trunaked Nudes palette as my transition/base shade all over my lid. It’s a light cream, almost white, so I figured the colours would show up a bit better.

20161018973728428.jpg

The flash in this picture washed out all the colours 😦 but I figured I’d add it anyways

So for the outer and inner corners of my eyes, I used NYX Nude Matte Shadow in Dance The Tides. This wasn’t as pigmented as I had hoped for it to be, so I had to really pack on the shadow. I tried my best to keep a prominent space in the middle empty for the halo. I also made sure to blend every so often to avoid harsh lines.

For the “halo”, I used the Loreal Infallible eyeshadow in Hourglass Beige. Suuuch a pretty golden/champagney colour and looked really nice with the matte brown.

I wanted to add some dimension, so I added my NYX Matte Bronzer in Medium in the crease to kind of deepen the look. I also used this in the lower lash line. This bronzer is crazy pigmented so I think it works perfectly as an eyeshadow alternative.

20161018_235256.jpg

That’s it for the eyes. All other details are listed below:

  • Foundation: Milani Conceal+Perfect foundation in 06 Sand Beige
  • Highlight: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop
  • Contour: NYX Matte Bronzer in Medium
  • Lashes: Ardell 120 Demi
  • Lips: Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Kae

Guys I literally came up with this look at like 10 at night and I regretted it because I wanted to wear it out but I had no where else to go. Oh well.

P.S. I guess that would make this a MOTN? Hahahahaha. I love myself.
