First of all, let’s ignore the fact that I’ve been missing for three months. That’s a story for another post. I wanted to show you guys the things I got from the Sephora VIB sale! I’m actually super pleased with everything I managed to grab, despite some of the things I had my eye on selling out (ie: the four pack of Clarisonic brush heads for $80… til next time I guess 😢). We all know that ya girl LOVES a good deal, and I can confidently say that I got my money’s worth this time around! I saved $45 on everything, which is pretty good considering I got a lot of things.
Also, something that I learned this time around is that the Sephora app and website are not that accurate when it comes to stock in store.
Some things I wanted on the app said that no store in my area had the item in stock. Which was a lie because I went to two different stores on two different occasions, and they still had the items.
Also, I found an item in store that had the “online only” label on it on the app/website
Trust no one!!! Jokes. Don’t go to those extremes. But from my experience, I’m probably just going to do my VIB sale shopping in store from now on.
By now, you’re probably asking yourself if H&M is the only place I shop at. And the answer is: pretty much. I dislike shopping and I love saving money, so since I already work at H&M, I can shop every time I go to work and I get a discount too! Anyways, here are some things I’ve picked up recently
We recently got a bunch of Purpose tour merch and for some reason, I really liked and wanted this hoodie. I love hoodies. Catch me in them at home all the time. Since the Purpose tour merch is only in the mens section, this fits a bit bigger, but I don’t mind because I love that it’s a bit oversized. Everyone makes fun of me for it, but I don’t care, I love this hoodie!
Pile Lined Denim Jacket
[This was sold out online but I’m sure you can find something similar at any store]
I have always loved the look of sheepskin lined denim jackets. Idk I think I just like sheepskin lined anything… Which is why I got this jacket (Although it obviously isn’t lined with real sheepskin). I won’t be able to wear this any time soon with the weather we’ve been having, but this will be a nice spring jacket. The sleeves aren’t lined, but the rest of the jacket is, so it’s the perfect balance of warmth and breathability. Just four more months until I can wear this…. Four… long… months.
Ever since we got this in a couple month ago, I’ve been lusting over it. I love bomber jacket silhouettes and this jacket is different because it’s made of a wool-blend rather than the typical satin-like bomber jackets that are everywhere these days. I also like that the bottom of the jacket isn’t cuffed, so if I wear a shirt that happens to be longer than this jacket, I won’t look like an awkward mushroom, and the shirt won’t gather all weird around my waist. If you can visualize what I’m talking about. Also the lining is the prettiest light, powdery blue color. Which is pointless because no one ever sees the lining but oh well.
I bought this shirt because I wanted to wear my strappy bralette under it (Check out my VS bralette haul if you haven’t already). Since it’s a deeper V, it would show off the straps perfectly. However, the shirt is quite fitted and I got it in a 2 (I feel like I could have and should have sized up), so wearing this shirt with a bralette means that my boobs will definitely disappear.. But oh well! It’s still a nice shirt and if you’ve watched my vlogs, you would see that I have been wearing this shirt frequently since I got it.
And that’s it! Hope you guys enjoyed 🙂 I really need to find a better way to take pictures. A cellphone tripod maybe? Idk.
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone was able to enjoy the holidays with the ones they love! To get me back into the swing of things here, I thought I would show you all the things I received this year! Also, I’ve been thinking a lot about how different Christmas is when you’re a kid vs. when you’re a bit older. I remember when I was younger, it seemed like it took forever for it to be christmas. My lists were very long and all I wanted to do was rip open presents. Now that I’m older, it seems like Christmas sneaks up on me every year. Instead of wanting to receive tons of gifts, I love giving meaningful things to others. Maybe it’s just because our concept of time changes as we get older. Idk. But anyways! Here’s what I got for Christmas!
Too Faced Natural Matte Palette from my friend Mark
ELF Mad For Matte Palette from my sister
Kylie Cosmetics Matte liquid lipstick in Candy K from my godparents
Body Shop Pink Grapefruit hand lotion from my cousin
“Best sister ever” mug from my sister – this mug is actually HUGE and I’m so excited to use it
Magnetic bookmarks from my cousin
Terry’s chocolate orange from my mom
Hickory Farms Mini Melt Away mints from my aunts
Both of these are “traditional” gifts haha I get them every year
A bracelet from my godparents
Fetty Wap vinyl from my sister
I also got a onesie from my aunt which I forgot to take a picture of. What were some of your favourite gifts this year? Let me know! And rest assured, you will be seeing more of me around in the new year.
I know I’ve definitely written about this before but I. Love. Bralettes. I hate wearing bras so bralettes are perfect for me because I got lil boobs so I don’t need much support. Bralettes are just so comfortable and cute and nice and I’m ranting, so read on.
Victoria’s Secret is having a sale on bralettes and sports bras – everything is 50% off! So I got all these bad boys for $12, which in my opinion is such a steal. VS is pricey but their bralettes are such good quality in comparison to other places. I don’t know when the sale ends, but go and stop by if you’re interested, it won’t last forever! Anyways, these are all the bralettes that I picked. There were so soo many cute ones to choose from and I ended up with four that I am so happy with.
These ones are just your typical bralette. They are all the same, just in different colours. White, red and a grey-ish purple. The lace is a bit more sturdy, so I don’t think they will fall apart in the wash. Plus, your nips don’t show through the lace. I was mindblown in the change room because they were pretty thin, but still cover everything.
This one is my favourite. The cups are made of mesh and crocheted lace. My favourite part about this is the straps at the front because I love the way they look under a low cut shirt. I guess I won’t be wearing low cut shirts any time soon during the winter but you know I’ll be wearing this alll the time when it gets warmer.
That’s all for today! All the bralettes I bought can be found here. Hope you all have a good rest of your night (or day)
As many of you already know, I live in Canada, so Colourpop is a little pricey because of the conversion rate and shipping. Luckily Colourpop was having a promotion where if you spend $50 or more, you get free international shipping. I got some of my cousins to order with me so that spending $50 would be easier to achieve and I finally got my products after what felt like years! (Jk, shipping isn’t to blame. I’m just an incredibly impatient person.)
I didn’t have natural light so the swatches are under a white light and then under regular light LOL
This is my go-to everyday lipstick. I just love this colour because I think it’s very flattering on me. Coincidentally at the time I was ordering, I was running out of this, so I just restocked. But here’s a picture of my face just in case you forget what it looks like.
Mess Around is the only satin finish lipstick I got and it’s the first one I’ve ever tried. I really wish I got more of them though, because for a non-matte liquid lipstick, it lasts SO. LONG. And it is just so comfortable to wear. It isn’t sticky when applying and when it dries, it doesn’t feel like you have any product on your lips.I think this would be the perfect muted colour for whenever I feel brave enough to do a bold eye look. Whenever that is….
Kae is one of the colours from Karrueche collab. It really reminds me of Limbo (featured in this MOTD), but Kae is more reddish brown, where Limbo is a true deep brown. Either way, I love this colour! And I love that the packaging on the bottle is rose gold as opposed to all silver.
Look at how lifeless my eyes look. At this point, my lips are B E G G I N G for mercy. I now understand the pain that beauty gurus face when they swatch an entire collection of lipstick on their lips…
Rooch another colour from the Karrueche collab and I have wanted it since it got released pretty much. I think Rooch is a colour that would look flattering on anyone, regardless of skin tone. It is suuuuch a pretty deep red, like I am in love with how rich the colour is. I feel like this is the only colour I’ll be rocking around christmas time because it kinda reminds me of that time of the year. I think this colour is my favourite of all the ones I ordered.
I am pretty excited about this one because it’s dark and vampy so it’s perfect for the fall and winter season and this time I can genuinely say that I don’t own a colour like this. I truly believe that dark lips look great on any skin tone, even though dark colours may be a bit intimidating to some people. I struggled a bit putting this on, so I definitely recommend using a liner with this and applying with a lip brush or cleaning up the edges with concealer. Since this is a dark colour, it can be pretty unforgiving and any mistakes you make will definitely be visible. Besides that though, this formula is so comfortable and hydrating!
That concludes my Colourpop haul yall. I promised myself that after this order, I wouldn’t spend any more money on makeup that I don’t absolutely need until 2017. So with that being said, I think this will be my last haul for a little while. I’m sad just thinking about it, but I guess I’m still benefitting since I’ll be saving money… Have a good night! (Or day, depending on where in the world you’re reading this from)
Sephora recently had their Beauty Insider Appreciation Event and for me, since I just became a VIB this year, it meant that I get 3X the points. So I decided it was the perfect reason to buy a few things that I had been meaning to purchase anyways.
Sephora Midnight Magic Face and Body Glitter Pot – Gold
So I originally got this intending to use it as a highlight (it was also on sale so why not), but I found that the glitter parts were a bit too large to use as a highlight alone. I wasn’t completely disappointed though because this is still such a beautiful product, so I used this under my highlight and it really makes it stand out even more. Yall know I’m extra, I gotta glow. If you’re one of those people who like to add a little shimmer to your shoulders or décolletage then this might be something you’d enjoy. But it’s fall now (which pretty much means it’s winter where I live) so I’ll have to wait another season to do any glittering of the body. It also has this little net that you dip the brush in, which prevents you from getting too much product onto the brush.
ABH Brush #12
So I needed a new eyebrow /spoolie brush because 1. My current eyebrow/spoolie brush is friggin small. It’s literally the length of my middle finger and kinda hard to work with… and 2. It’s falling apart. GURL. When I was doing my brows in Texas, the spoolie detached from the brush and was stuck to my eyebrow. It was wild. My cousins and sister couldn’t stop laughing. ANYWAYS. Ya I got this brush. I love how it came with the little protectors, so that the bristles aren’t just exposed. However I hate the spoolie. Like maybe it’ll grow on me but I feel like it just scrapes my skin in the process of blending out my brows. The brush itself is pretty good though. It’s made with synthetic fibres, so it’s perfect for a creme product like my Dipbrow. It’s also fairly small and mimics brow hairs perfectly which I really like.
Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Setting Spray
I was originally going to buy the All Nighter setting spray, but the De-Slick caught my eye because my skin gets oily and it’s meant for oily skin lol. I had read a lot of reviews because I was curious as to what people preferred; All Nighter or De-Slick. A lot of people said De-Slick didn’t do much for them, which kinda turned me off, but then the people who were writing the reviews either didn’t have oily skin (Like why would you even buy the product in the first place…?) or had extremely oily skin, and I’m in the happy middle, which is why I ended up going with this one. I bought the smaller version just as a precaution though, in case I ended up hating it. But I don’t hate it! I really do notice a difference in the oiliness of my skin when I use this – aka my skin isn’t as oily as it would be if I only used powder to set my makeup. When I initially used it, it didn’t feel like any spray was going on my face because the mist is sooo fine but I really like the fact that it’s that weightless.
They also had a little promotion going on where if you spend $35 you can get a little sample bag. I like the design and size of the bag because it fits quite a few items. It isn’t extremely sturdy but I think it’s perfect for holding those “necessities” (yenno, lipstick, tampons, hand lotion that kinda stuff). Anyways, the sample bag came with the following things:
Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara in Excessive Black (I used it and forgot to include it in the picture because it’s sitting in my makeup drawer now LOL)
Sephora waterproof eye makeup remover
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max brown
Estee Edit Mattified Lipstick in Killin It and Abt Last Night and Lip Flip shade transformer in Turn Up and Turn Down
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black perfume
Dr Brandt microdermabrasion age defying skin exfoliator
Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Total V Contouring serum (specially formulated for asian women and also supposed to help reduce the appearance of a double chin. YESSSS)
Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion (it came with three different samples too. One for dry skin, one for dry combo skin and one for oily skin)
I also got the 3 free samples you always get when you order online at Sephora which I didnt picture. I got the Smashbox Iconic Photofinish Primer, Chloe Love Story perfume and Ren Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream. So all in all I would say I got a really good amount of stuff for what I spent. I love free things!! And I’m also so happy I love everything I bought. Now time to save money like I’m broke for the upcoming months #StrugglingStudentLife
Hey guys! About two weeks ago, I was informed that I was the winner of a contest for finishing online training modules at work, and my prize was a whole bunch of H&M Beauty items (Oh yeah I work at H&M lol surprise!!). I’ve never really used anything from their beauty line, besides owning some brushes and a couple nail polishes, so I was pretty excited and didn’t really know what to expect. I don’t know if anyone else is like this, but I really don’t have high expectations for the makeup lines that clothing giants put out *cough cough Forever 21 wyd*, and you can’t knock it til you try it right? Anyways if you’re interested in seeing what I got then keep reading!
P.S. I should also mention that all my thoughts and impressions are 100% my own! I’m not personally bashing or attacking the company when I talk about something I don’t like and I’m also not being paid to say anything nice about the things I do like! (then again I feel like all of this is a given since I don’t have a hug presence on here LOL but just thought I’d throw it out there)
