It’s my last day of school tomorrow, and since I’m not taking any spring courses, that means I have a four month long summer. Wow. And then that means I only have one more year until the long awaited, much anticipated graduation. Technically my semester isn’t quite over, since I still have finals to write, but I’m already thinking of what I want to do over the course of four months. For the past two years, I’ve been making Summer Bucket Lists on my Tumblr (2015’s list is here and 2016’s list is here), but I figured that for this year, and all other years I have this blog, I’ll just start posting them here! And that way, whenever I check something off the bucket list, y’all will be the first to see it. Also, if anything pops into my head of other activities I want to do, I’ll probably update this post, so check back often if you’re interested!
Also while reading through the things I want to do, a lot of them are activities that I can do over time, so I can’t really check it off and be done with it. If that makes sense… But I’ll still be updating my blog with my progress on these things here and there!
1. Do more makeup looks
I feel like I have really been slacking in this department, and I really want to improve my skills (I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot though… no excuses this time!)
2. Read more self development books – or any books for that matter
I have been wanting to read more, and I’ve been really interested in self development and productivity books, so it’s a good way to kill two birds with one stone. I’m also open to suggestions on any books, so please send them my way!
3. Practice calligraphy
I love watching calligraphy videos on Instagram, and it’s just so pretty to look at. Plus I feel like practising and mastering calligraphy would step my bullet journal game up by like 15 notches. This is also just an excuse I’m using so I have a reason to buy more pretty brush pens and highlighters. (Tbh it’s harder than it looks, but practice makes perfect!)
4. Stay consistent in working out
I’m very motivated to get stronger, so I really hope that I am able to stay consistent with working out throughout the summer. I want to see progress in my arms the most, because ya girl has lanky noodle arms atm. But! I can do a solid five push ups, which obviously isn’t a lot, but before I couldn’t even lift myself up. Any progress is progress yall
5. Vlog more
Vlogging is just something I enjoy, so hopefully my summer will be eventful enough to be vlogworthy! (Here’s a link to my travel vlog playlist if you want something to watch!)
6. Explore Calgary
Calgary is a small city compared to others, but I feel like it has so much to offer. I was born and raised here, but I still have moments where I feel like a tourist. There are so many cool shops and restaurants in Calgary, and I want to discover them!
This is a popular summer activity amongst a lot of people I know. Since the mountains are just an hour long drive away from me, I’m excited to be able to have more time to go an explore the outdoors. There’s something so refreshing about being in the mountain air, plus hiking is just a nice way to get exercise with friends!
8. Try Poke!
My boyfriend and I have been waiting and waiting to try poke, and a poke place finally opened up in Calgary, so it’s definitely on my summer bucket list. Last time I had poke, I was around 9 or 10 and I had it at a luau in Hawaii and I remember loving it, so hopefully this will be worth the wait!
9. Go to Sylvan Lake
This is on my bucket list pretty much every summer, but for good reason! This lake is an hour and a half-ish away from Calgary, and it’s a fun place to go and have a picnic with your friends and hang out in the water and what not. I guess you could say this is a summer tradition for me.
10. Watch a drive in movie
This is another event that happens every summer in a mall parking lot, but I’ve never actually gone and seen a movie at the drive in. I think it would be cool to experience!
11. Host/attend as many barbecues or waterfights or bonfires as possible
I think this one speaks for itself 😉
I honestly cannot wait to have lots of free time on my hands. Summer is definitely my favourite season, and I’m so excited to do as many of these things (and more) as I can! What are some things on your summer bucket list?
