ceramic slip, ceramic slip clay cleanser, good genes, lactic acid, lactic acid treatment, luna, luna sleeping night oil, review, sephora, Skin care, squad goals, sunday riley, tidal, tidal brightening enzyme water cream
I bought myself the Sunday Riley Squad Goals kit as an early birthday present to myself near the end of December. I’ve always wanted to try out the Good Genes treatment, but I figured that by purchasing a kit with more products, it would allow my to try out more products for a better deal. The reason why I’ve waited so long to post this is because I wanted to use it for a couple of weeks to really give you guys as good of a review as I can! (Also just a heads up, this will be a long one, so get ready to read!)
The kit comes with: Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser, Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream, Luna Sleeping Night Oil and Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment. This kit retails for $110CAD, but I had a VIB coupon code that allowed me to save $20, so I really got this for $90CAD!
My overall first impressions of these products was that they aren’t the best smelling things in the world. The scent isn’t overpowering, but it is something you definitely have to get used to. I also think that in order to get the best results, these should all be used together, although it isn’t necessary. The packaging was also very luxurious and i really looked how nice they look displayed on my table.
I did break out initially when I first started using these products, but that was my own fault and doesn’t mean that these products are ineffective. Rather than slowly incorporating the products into the pretty solid skincare routine that I have, I replaced those products with the Sunday Riley ones. This caused my sensitive skin to completely freak out at the change and I broke out pretty badly. Luckily, it went away pretty quickly so I could fully test out these products.
I should also note that currently, I do not use Ceramic Slip and Tidal on a daily basis, but I do use Luna and Good Genes every night.
Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser
- 1 fl oz. (Full size: $60CAD for 4.2 fl oz)
- Normal to oily skin
- French Green Clay and Moroccan Rhassoul lava clay to remove pore clogging excess oil and impurities without stripping the skin
- Neroli essential oil to balance and soothe
- Vitamin C ester to brighten the appearance of skin
The first time I used this, I will say that I didn’t like it. The formula is very runny and was not the best smelling thing in the world. Now that I’ve been using it for a while, it’s just meh to me. Sure, it does get rid of excess oil and impurities, but that’s something pretty universal amongst cleansers that are targeted toward oily skin. It also claims to visibly minimize pore size, but I didn’t notice much of a difference. My skin always feels smooth and never extremely tight after using this, I will give it that, but that’s about the only thing I liked about this cleanser. You can definitely find a cleanser better than this one, and for a better price. (Try my holy grail, the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser.)
Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream
- 0.5 oz ($28CAD value, full size: 1.7 oz for $85)
- Suitable for all skin types
- Two forms of hyaluronic acid and tamarind extract for visibly hydrated and plumped skin
- Papaya enzymes to smooth and exfoliate skin
- Alpha-arbutin and giant white bird of paradise extracts to diminish appearance of hyper-pigmentation and illuminate the complexion
I enjoyed this moisturizer. I found that it definitely lived up to the claim that it visibly hydrates and plumps the skin. The fact that it helped to brighten my skin was an added bonus, as I have been struggling with a dull complexion. I particularly like putting this on before I apply my makeup because I find that it helps give me that dewy/fresh skinned look that I really like.
Luna Sleeping Night Oil
- 0.25 fl oz (Full size: 1.18 oz for $131CAD)
- Suitable for all skin types
- Improves 5 signs of aging – fine lines, uneven texture, age spots, dryness and dullness
- Clinically proven to improve fine lines, radiance and skin smoothness in 4 weeks
- Blue tansy and German chamomile essential oils to improve redness
- Trans-retinoic acid ester complex to reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
I was already a huge fan of face oils, so I was already expecting to love this. This oil makes my skin feel like silk every single time I use it. I’m not kidding. My skin had never felt as smooth as it does after using Luna. I put one drop on each cheek and half a drop on my forehead and massage it into my face. I let it absorb for a couple minutes before I put any other products on my face. Whenever I wake up in the morning, my skin always still feels like it did the night before – smooth, soft, hydrated and just healthy feeling. I haven’t noticed much difference in the redness on my skin, but I am really pleased with the other results I have seen with this oil.
Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment
- 0.5 fl oz (Full size: 1 fl oz for $141CAD)
- Suitable for all skin types
- High potency, purified grade lactic acid exfoliates dull, dead skin cells
- Plumps lines, boosts radiance and reduces appearance of hyperpigmentation
I had been itching to try this for years. A lot of my favourite Youtubers who used this immediately fell in love with this when they used it, which really added to my longing to try this. This is a very good product. I apply Good Genes right after Luna, which I think is the best way to get the best results from them both. I mostly wanted to try this because of how well everyone said it helped lighten their acne scars and hyperpigmentation. Whenever I get a pimple, it always leaves a scar on my face, especially if it’s a bigger one. It helped lighten my old acne scars a bit, but I really noticed a difference after the breakout I got when I initially tried these products. I noticed that the pimples didn’t leave scars at all! I can also say that this product also helped brighten up and even out my skin tone. I’m not going to lie, I kind of expected better results, but I am still pretty impressed with what I have seen so far.
These are good products. For the most part, they all did what they claimed to do. However, I don’t think I would repurchase the full size of any of these products. Mainly because Sunday Riley is a luxury brand that comes with a luxurious price tag, and personally for me, I can’t afford to incorporate these items into my skincare regimen. Which is another thing I want to touch on – If you have a skincare routine that has been working for you, I don’t think you absolutely need these products, especially if you are someone who is on a budget like myself. I had hoped to get amazing results because of all the high quality ingredients in these products, but they sadly fell short for me.
My favourite thing in this kit was hands down the Luna Sleeping Night Oil. But I also think that Luna is way more effective when you follow up with Good Genes right after. So my suggestion, if you are still curious to try out Sunday Riley products, would be to buy the Power Couple kit from Sunday Riley, which comes with Good Genes and a larger size of Luna. You get the two best products from the #SquadGoals kit for a cheaper price. Its definitely an option I’m keeping at the back of my mind for when I run out of the current products I own.
I hope this was helpful to any of you who are curious about some of these products! I went as in depth as I could, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask them below. Always remember that everyone’s skin is different, so you may not find the same things about these products that I did. Until next time 🙂
