November Favourites

November has been a crazy month (but I feel like that’s what I said in my October favourites… and every other favourites post I’ve made) and I haven’t been as active as I would like for that reason. I was looking at my planner and realized there’s only two more weeks left of school, like this semester has just flown by. Regardless, here are some things I’ve been loving this month!

Ardell 120 Demi lashes

2016-11-27 03.33.22 1.jpgI had the worst luck with lashes in October. I went through three pairs in the span of two weeks! Take it from me, never fall asleep or cry with fake lashes on. Anyways, as most of you know, the Ardell Baby Wispies were my go to lash, but I swear, every time I went to WalMart they were A L W A Y S sold out. I even resorted to going to an actual drugstore, where I knew they would be more expensive, because thats how desperate I was. They weren’t there either, so I ended up just buying these the next time I went to WalMart. They’re a bit longer than the Baby Wispies, which I didn’t think I’d like, but I don’t mind the length. They’re pretty natural looking, so if I wear them without eyeliner, it kind of looks like I’m wearing lash extensions. These are one of those lashes that I always get compliments on whenever I wear them!

Maison Margiela REPLICA – Lipstick On

2016-11-27 03.33.21 1.jpg

I am currently on a quest to find a new scent, so when I placed my order during the VIB sale, I added this perfume sample into my cart. I’m not even going to try and attempt to describe the scent because I know I’ll fail really badly, but I will say that when I wear this, I feel mature and feminine. It’s not the lightest scent, but it isn’t overpowering either and it lingers all day. I haven’t smelled anything like it and I think that’s why I like it so much. I don’t think I’ll purchase the full size just yet because I haven’t gotten around to testing out other scents and the full size of this is $135! But I have been wearing it everyday for the last part of November and I’ve really been enjoying it.

I was introduced to this Google Chrome plugin earlier this month and I really like it. It replaces your home/new tab page with a nice picture of a location the current time. It also displays other things, depending on what you set it to. Mine displays the temperature, a to-do list and a quote. It’s just something nice to look at that helps you be a little bit more productive.

Bruno Mars – 24k Magic

Bruno_Mars_-_24K_Magic_(Official_Album_Cover).png

I was disappointed at first because there are only 9 songs on the album, but my brother pointed out that it’s about quality, not quantity. And this is definitely a quality album. I was seriously in love with every song. The entire album sounds like it was made in the 80s/90s, and I love old school music. I couldn’t stop playing it as soon as I heard it, it was pretty much on repeat the entire month. You all need to take a listen!!! My favourite song is That’s What I Like.

With the end of November and the start of December, it means one thing… Vlogmas! I don’t know if I’ll be doing it again this year, but we’ll see how it goes. Also I CANNOT believe that 2016 is almost over. I remember the first day of the year as if it was yesterday. So many things have changed since then, but I guess that’s the beauty / curse of time. Let me know some of your favourites this month and until then take care! I hope this month hasn’t been as stressful for you as it has been for me. Which also reminds me that I really need to start taking better care of myself. The effects of stress have been showing in my body and mind and it isn’t pleasant… Maybe I should take it easy on the wine LOL.

VS Bralette Haul

I know I’ve definitely written about this before but I. Love. Bralettes. I hate wearing bras so bralettes are perfect for me because I got lil boobs so I don’t need much support. Bralettes are just so comfortable and cute and nice and I’m ranting, so read on.

Victoria’s Secret is having a sale on bralettes and sports bras – everything is 50% off! So I got all these bad boys for $12, which in my opinion is such a steal. VS is pricey but their bralettes are such good quality in comparison to other places. I don’t know when the sale ends, but go and stop by if you’re interested, it won’t last forever! Anyways, these are all the bralettes that I picked. There were so soo many cute ones to choose from and I ended up with four that I am so happy with.

Processed with VSCO with hb1 presetThese ones are just your typical bralette. They are all the same, just in different colours. White, red and a grey-ish purple. The lace is a bit more sturdy, so I don’t think they will fall apart in the wash. Plus, your nips don’t show through the lace. I was mindblown in the change room because they were pretty thin, but still cover everything.

This one is my favourite. The cups are made of mesh and crocheted lace. My favourite part about this is the straps at the front because I love the way they look under a low cut shirt. I guess I won’t be wearing low cut shirts any time soon during the winter but you know I’ll be wearing this alll the time when it gets warmer.

That’s all for today! All the bralettes I bought can be found here. Hope you all have a good rest of your night (or day)

Stepping up my legging game

I don’t know about you but I live in leggings. I love how comfy they are, I love how they are effortless and can go with anything and I just love how they make my legs and (non existent) booty look. If you’re like me, you own 10 pairs of the same black leggings so that you can always keep them in rotation, but lately I’ve been trying to switch it up and branch out from just plain black leggings. Here are some “not your average” leggings I’ve been loving and rocking lately! (All from H&M of course)

9:00 PM Update

Reading break has pretty much just started, but I feel like I don’t have time to take a break. I’ve picked up a bunch of extra shifts this week because I’m still saving for my Mexico trip with my friends (and it makes me not feel so bad for buying a few things for the VIB sale that starts tomorrow!!) and any time that I’m not at work, I either need to be working on a paper, finishing an assignment or studying for midterms. Conveniently, said paper, assignment and midterm are all on the same day! I also have a presentation that I need to be working on but haven’t touched. Help me.

snapchat-1777902061Anyways, I just wanted to write a little update since the last time I posted was a little over a week ago and tbh I just needed a break from all the work haha. As I write this, my cat is laying in his favourite spot… my lap. I have a habit of keeping my feet on my chair whenever I’m sitting at my desk, and he’s gotten used to sticking his body in the space between my legs and chest. He always lays in the world’s most awkward positions, but he always looks so comfortable!

This past week has not been very kind to my wallet. And you’re probably rolling your eyes because I just said I was saving up for a trip. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT. I can treat myself if I want to!!!! H&M finally launched their online store in Canada and as a special deal for staff members, we got an extra 20% off of our 25% staff discount. I bought things that I had alway been meaning to buy, but never did because I couldn’t justify the purchase (remember, I HATE spending money on clothes. I’d rather spend it on food or makeup). I bought some basics as well as a new duvet cover which I was actually so pumped about. I also bought a planner for next year because my life always just seems so put together when I write fill out important days and write down things I need to do. (The planner was not from H&M by the way. Just throwing that out there.)

ALSO. Like I previously mentioned (although I’m sure everyone reading this is probably already aware) the VIB sale starts tomorrow. I’ve seen a loooot of people doing “Whats In My Sephora Basket” posts and I’ve always thought it was kind of weird because I always have tons of things in my Sephora basket but I never actually buy them. Like I feel like it doesn’t matter what’s in your basket, people fake flex all the time, it matters what you actually buy. Which is why I only pay attention to VIB haul posts/videos. No hate intended, it’s just my opinion. BUT. I’m gonna be a hypocrite and show yall whats in my basket anyways.

Screen Shot 2016-11-10 at 8.46.05 PM.png

I’m buying the Smashbox Light It Up primer set because hello!!!! You get a FULL SIZE Photofinish primer (which is $45 CAD by itself) AND a travel size Photofinish primer water (which is $20 CAD). So I pretty much get a free primer water! Wow! Also because I ran out of the samples I got and this was a perfect opprtunity to restock.

Then I’m just getting the full sized De-Slick setting spray because I ran out of the 1oz bottle I bought and I really notice a difference in how my makeup looks when I use this (it looks better) and I don’t want to go back to being a greasy ray of sunshine at the end of these cold, dark winter nights. Why am I so dramatic.

Oh yeah! I noticed I have 50 followers now! Which isn’t a lot in comparison to others of course, but it’s still mind blowing to me that there are at least 50 people on this planet who read my posts and interact with me and show me love. I’m imaginging 50 people in one room and it looks like a lot in my head. Celebrating the small victories is just as important! So thank you 🙂

Okay this was enough of a distraction. I need to finish this paper. Hope you guys have a good rest of your night, and if you’re on reading break as well I hope you’re able to make the most of it! (Whatever that might be for you hehe)

Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation Review

I just realized that it’s been a loong time since I’ve actually reviewed a product. I’ve been doing so many first impressions, but I feel like you cant use first impressions to base your opinion on a product. So I’m back with a new review! As you can read in the title, it’s on the Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation. I’ve heard really good things about this foundation and I’ve always been meaning to try it and now I’ve had the chance to (you might remember that I said I wasn’t going to be spending any money on makeup that I don’t need until 2017, but I actually ran out of foundation, so I needed a new one)

THE BASICS

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I got the colour 06 – Sand Beige

  • $12.88 CAD
  • Glass packaging with a pump
  • 8 shades
  • 1 fl. oz

CLAIMS

  • Medium to full coverage
  • Lightweight, oil-free formula
  • Long wearing, water-resisting and sweat-proof

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The colours range from 01 to 09 but for some reason there’s no 08? Like it goes from 01 to 07, skips 08 and then goes to 09. So technically there are only 8 shades in the range, which is good but there are no options for people with darker skin.

The foundation itself is quite thick and kind of reminds me of Kat Von D’s Lock-It Tattoo foundation. However when applied on the face, I didn’t find it to feel thick. It actually feels pretty light and like it’s your natural skin. It sets pretty quickly to a natural matte finish, but you do not look flat. I applied less than I normally would with other foundations because of the full coverage claim and found that it didn’t impact the coverage. You don’t need a lot to cover your face. Coverage is definitely buildable but the good thing about this foundation is that I found it to be full coverage on the first application. I added another layer and it was very full coverage, but since the formula is quite light, you can achieve the full coverage look without feeling or looking cakey. It covered up my dark circles and redness perfectly and I didn’t feel like I needed to take the extra step of putting on concealer to conceal any little spots (I did it anyways though LOL) This was a perfect colour match for me.

20161018_230853

This is not flash friendly. I was taking a picture for my Brown and Gold Halo eye MOTD  and I didn’t include this picture because I am literally two different colours. It looks much more normal in person, I swear. I don’t know why it does that though because there’s no SPF in this foundation. LOL I’M ACTUALLY CRINGING LOOKING AT THIS PICTURE.

I wore this foundation to school, and since I didn’t use concealer, I didn’t bake or anything. To set the foundation, I just used the Urban Decay De-slick spray, but I found that my nose and the area around it were a bit shiny at the end of the day. Not extremely shiny, but there was no hiding the fact that I was oily. If you carry blotting sheets around with you on the regular, then just setting the foundation it with a good setting spray could definitely be an option for you, but for those of you who are a bit more oily (like myself) I would suggest using a powder before your setting spray, just to be on the safe side.

snapchat-253173373
Poor quality picture but look how nice my skin is looking! And how cute we are!

I also wore this foundation to The 1975 concert and surprisingly enough, it wore pretty well throughout. I was jumping around and sweating and at the end of the night, there was no visible spots where my foundation had come off. You could still see my highlight and contour at the end of the night AND there was no visible signs of excess oil, which to me is CRAZY. It stayed in tact and still looked pretty good from far away. When I inspected my face up close though, you could kind of see that it was starting to kind of separate. Keep in mind that by the end of the day, I had the foundation on for about 12-ish hours because I had work in the morning before the concert and didn’t reapply my makeup for the concert, so I think the separation was probably just due to the fact that I had the foundation on literally all day.

FINAL THOUGHTS

All in all, I am blown away by this foundation. I think it might be my new favourite! I absolutely love the fact that although it’s a full coverage foundation, it’s a very natural finish. I’m not too oily but I’m also not extremely matte to the point where my face looks flat and lifeless. I would say that this foundation lives up to all it’s claims and is definitely worth every penny you pay for this. I’ve never tried any high end foundations, so I can’t really suggest what this could be a dupe for, but I feel like I don’t need to try a high end foundation any time soon because Milani really nailed pretty much everything about this foundation. I love it! 10/10!!

If you end up trying this out, let me know how it works for you. I am pretty sure you won’t be disappointed! Have a good rest of your day 🙂

Halloween / Game Night

I think one of the most important life lessons I’ve learned after leaving high school is that friendships require effort. Which is pretty standard and it’s nothing ground breaking, but I know that when you’re in high school, you see your friends every day at the same times because of the fact that you all go to the same school. After high school, people go to different schools and you have different schedules and commitments. If you don’t take the time to catch up and spend time with your friends, chances are you will end up losing touch. Personally for me, I know that was the case when I was in first and second year. It’s tough. But the whole point of this post is that one way I’ve learned to avoid growing apart is having a set day where you and all your friends can come together and catch up and just spend time together! It seemed kind of sad at first, having to “schedule” time for your friends, but it really does work, and it’s something I genuinely look forward to every month.

My friends and I have game night on the last Friday of every month, and we usually just go to my friend Gerard’s house and play games all night LOL. We used to do this pretty much everyday in the summer, but we all have school now, so that’s obviously not an option. We couldn’t do game night on Friday, so instead we moved it to Halloween night and had it at my pal Ahn’s house instead. Anyways, here are some pics of us having fun. Also just wanted to post some pics of my friends because all of them read my blog regularly hehe.

The Game Night Crew

2016-11-01 12.25.42 1.jpg

Yes, we really just got into costume to eat, play games and chill. But it was fun!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Monopoly Deal is the game that really started game night I think. Like before we would only play card games, but this one got so addicting. Anyways, this one is competitive and it gets VERY savage. It’s one of those games that has the potential to ruin friendships LOL. You have to get three full sets of “property” to win the game, but there are also action cards that allow you to steal or trade property which makes the game get REALLY heated and intense.

2016-11-01 12.23.34 1.jpg

Pandemic is a really fun (but hard) game. It’s all about teamwork and strategy. The rules are complicated, so I won’t go into them, but the basic idea of this game is that you are a team of specialists (it changes every game because you have to draw cards to find out what your role is) and you have to try to stop different diseases from spreading across the world and killing everyone.

I hope you guys had a safe and fun Halloween weekend! And I also hope you’re all able to make time for the important people in your life 🙂 Make it work in whatever way you can!
