HUGE H&M Beauty Haul & First Impressions!

Hey guys! About two weeks ago, I was informed that I was the winner of a contest for finishing online training modules at work, and my prize was a whole bunch of H&M Beauty items (Oh yeah I work at H&M lol surprise!!). I’ve never really used anything from their beauty line, besides owning some brushes and a couple nail polishes, so I was pretty excited and didn’t really know what to expect. I don’t know if anyone else is like this, but I really don’t have high expectations for the makeup lines that clothing giants put out *cough cough Forever 21 wyd*, and you can’t knock it til you try it right? Anyways if you’re interested in seeing what I got then keep reading!

💖, B

P.S. I should also mention that all my thoughts and impressions are 100% my own! I’m not personally bashing or attacking the company when I talk about something I don’t like and I’m also not being paid to say anything nice about the things I do like! (then again I feel like all of this is a given since I don’t have a hug presence on here LOL but just thought I’d throw it out there)

WalMart, Sephora and H&M Haul

Hey yall! I know I’ve been M.I.A for the past week but I have been busy shopping. Seriously. I’ve never done a haul post before so I figured I’d do one now of all the things I’ve bought over the past week or so. I’ve also tried most of the products out already so I’ll also include a mini review (and if you want to see a full review on any of the products then let me know, although I most likely will be writing some). Enjoy!

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor – 675 Infatuation

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I believe this colour is part of their new shades for the collection, I could be wrong though. I picked this up because you all know I love a nice dramatic dark lip and I don’t have a deep berry shade yet so I figured why not. As far as the actual product itself… Meh.

CoverGirl Outlast All Day Lipstick – 577 Spiced Latte

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I thought the idea of applying the colour, then applying a moisturizing and shiny top coat was a cool idea. Plus it claimed to last 24 hours which caught my attention. I obviously didnt wear it for 24 hours but I was pleasantly surprised at the fact that the colour really did last all day, only having to reapply the top coat. Only downside is that I personally don’t like the way the colour looks on it’s own, so if I ever lost the topcoat, I probably wouldn’t ever use the actual lipstick again.

Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow – 002 Hourglass Beige

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

This caught my eye because I thought it would be a really pretty highlight shade. It’s very light (it is an iridescent finish) so I use it as a “base” for my actual highlight for an extra pop of glow. I haven’t used it as a shadow yet but I imagine it would also look amazing.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – 25 Medium

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I wanted to try out a new concealer and I had only heard good things about this concealer, which is why I picked it up. Plus I love all the products I’ve tried from the Fit Me line and this was no exception. So creamy, really easy to blend and is really good for highlighting!

essence All About Matt! Compact Powder

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I have no idea why they spelled “matte” the way they did. I also don’t know why I bought this lol. I mean I really don’t need a mattifying powder right now. I also keep forgetting to use this and test it out so… But I really like the simplistic packaging and the design on the powder haha

Clarisonic head

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Pretty standard, I just really needed a new brush head for my Clarisonic. I got the sensitive skin one.

Too Faced Melted Matte liquid lipstick – Drop Dead Red

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Yes. I did it. I bought it. I won’t lie though, I think the formula for this colour may be different than Cool Girl? I don’t know. I’ve only wore it once and I wore it with some lip chap underneath so maybe it altered the way it stayed on my lips, but I accidentally brushed my finger on my lip and it smeared the product (which is something that I’ve never experienced with Cool Girl) and at the end of the day it just looks like a mess. LOL maybe next time I try it, I’ll like it better (I mean I better if I paid $25 for it…)

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops – Sunlight

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

YOU. GUYS. I saved the best product for last. JGJFGAJGULARY. I literally screamed when I swatched this on my hand. This seriously looks like liquid metal (but if you’ve watched videos on this, then you already knew that). If you loove love love strobing and having a glow that reaches to outer space GIRL YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE. I plan on doing a full review on this later on in life but for now just know that I love this. I can’t stop looking at it!

Processed with VSCO
Unedited picture of Sunlight. Look at that!!! Are you looking?!

H&M Ribbed Body Suit

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I already have a black version of this same body suit and I wanted it in white. Honestly if you look at my closet, you will notice that I usually have a black and white version of the same shirt. I clearly love colour.

H&M Long Tank

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I’m sorry, I hate shopping for clothes and that reflects in how bad I am at describing what an article of clothing is. But yall get the idea. This looks like a long dress from the front, but there are very deep slits in the sides which can hide shorts. Or you can wear it with pants I guess. I don’t know what I’m saying.

And that concludes my haul! Hope you enjoyed looking at all my latest purchases, let me know if you’ve picked up something lately that you’ve been loving. As always, thanks for taking the time out to read this and see ya around.

My First Liebster Award!

Hey everyone! Guess what! I got nominated for my first Liebster Award! Cool! I was nominated by fellow blogger Valerie from avecvalerie, which makes this even cooler because her blog has been one that I always stalk ever since I first discovered her. She is a lifestyle and beauty blogger and she also writes posts about planning and organizing (which is seriously one of my guilty pleasures). I also need to mention that the look and aesthetic of her blog alone is enough to make you want to stay on it for hours. So thanks for the nomination Valerie!

The Rules

If the blogs I nominate choose to accept the award, please go through the official rules and find out more about the awardThe rules are:

  • Recognize and thank the person who nominated you
  • Provide the rules of the award (can link back to the official rules post)
  • Answer the 11 questions posed by the nominator
  • Provide 11 different questions to be answered by your nominees
  • Nominate 5-11 blogs
  • Give 10 random facts about yourself (optional)

My Answers

1. How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging on this blog for two months! And if Tumblr counts as blogging, then I’ve been on there for almost five years LOL (You can creep it here if you want! You’ll find a bunch of things I think are funny or just things I enjoy, as well of some of my more personal intimate thoughts about life hehe)

2. Why do you blog?

Honestly, I blog because I enjoy it! Writing has always been a creative outlet that I enjoy, like I love writing letters and jotting down my thoughts in journals and blogging just seemed like the obvious choice when I decided I wanted a platform to express myself.

3. What topics do you enjoy writing about?

Anything that comes to mind really. I find myself mostly writing (on this blog) about beauty and makeup because those are the things I really enjoy and love talking about haha. I mentioned I keep a journal, and in that I write about my feelings and things happening in my life because writing in my journal it is the main way I control the stress in my life!

4. How do you engage your readers?

That’s a good question LOL. I think that’s one thing I need to work on tbh. I ask open questions for people to respond to in my posts, and I also always try to respond to the comments that people take the time to write me!

5. Where do you find your inspiration?

Everywhere really! Inspiration for anything is everywhere, you just need to keep your eyes open hehe

6. Who are some of your favorite bloggers?

I don’t think I have a specific favourite blogger. Anyone I follow is a favourite blogger because I always make sure to read every single post in my following feed!

7. What is your blogging process like?

My blogging process is all over the place! I keep a list of things I would like to blog about, but sometimes I will randomly think of something to write about and I will write about it on the spot and post it immediately. I like my blogging process to be pretty organic, which to me personally means that I post when and what I want, not subjecting myself to publish posts on specific days or only writing posts about only one topic.

8. Where would you like to see your blog in the next year, in terms of success and direction (i.e. followers, subscribers, development, etc)?

I think it would be cool to have more followers or just people to interact with! I like writing posts, but it gives me a lot of satisfaction when people comment and tell me they enjoyed my post or learned something, or even when my friends in real life tell me they’ve tried something they’ve read on my blog.

9. What have you learned from blogging?

I’ve learned that even though this is something I started for fun, it takes a great amount of effort to maintain a blog. If I put off posting something, I always end up forgetting about it and will have a long gap of days between posts. I used to think no one would notice, but a good amount of people always call me out when I don’t post anything. Long story short, I guess I’ve just learned that I have a voice and that people enjoy hearing (or reading) what I have to say!

10. What advice do you have for new bloggers?

I would say, stay true to yourself and what feels right for you. Do what you want and don’t feel pressured to write about things you care about or post frequently just because other people do the same. Also interact and get to know the people you follow! It’s a great feeling when you feel like you belong somewhere and this is such an open and welcoming community – don’t be shy!

11. How do you get out of a writer’s block?

I ask people around me for help! Getting other points of views helps me really focus on what I want to write about and I always end up learning something, which is a nice bonus.

10 Random Facts About Me!

  1. My favourite feature about myself is my teeth, although in a lot of pictures you won’t see me smiling with teeth (shout out to braces though)
  2. My hidden talent is being able to memorize the lyrics of songs abnormally fast. Like by the third time I hear a song, I’ll know all the words. I’m also a lyric nazi and I think that’s why my friends don’t sing around me because I call everyone out.
  3. I once slept overnight outside, on concrete because my friends and I were in line to watch a free 5SOS concert in a parking lot. We waited in that line for 16 hours and the concert was maybe twenty minutes long and in direct sunlight with no shade. Safe to say I will never camp out in line ever again LOL
  4. I could live off sushi and Nando’s chicken and their garlic mash. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water
  5. I am suuuch a sentimental person. I save pretty much everything. I have this big container that’s filled with movie tickets, letters, flowers and anything associated with good memories to be honest with you.
  6. One of my worst habits is zoning out when people talk to me. I don’t do it on purpose either, it just happens, and I always find myself asking the person to repeat themselves and no one wins
  7. I’m allergic to peanuts and I swear that everyone who knows about it never fails to remind me or tease me that I’m allergic. Can anyone else with allergies relate? Or am I just friends with mean people LOL
  8. If I had to only use one social media platform for the rest of my life, I would choose Twitter
  9. I’m not an introvert or an extrovert – I’m an ambivert! And if you have no idea what that is, watch this Buzzfeed video which explains me PERECTLY.
  10. I hate playing the first impressions game because 99% of people have the same first impression of me. Everyone initially thinks I’m a bitch or stuck up or intimidating when they first meet me. To be fair though, I have the deadly combo of being shy AND having resting bitch face so I guess I understand where this first impression comes from LOL

WHEW. Okay you’ve come this far! I nominate the following people:

  1. helloblissfullife3
  2. arcticsabrina
  3. aleeyaazimulla
  4. lucyslittleloves
  5. thebeautyanalyst

If you lovely people choose to take part in this, these are my questions for you:

  1. What inspired you to first start blogging?
  2. What are you most proud of when it comes to your blog?
  3. What is your favourite thing about yourself?
  4. When was the last time you felt absolutely happy?
  5. You are given the opportunity to either go back in time five years and change something about your life (with no consequences in the present) or go forward in time five years and see what your life will be like. What do you choose and why?
  6. What is the greatest piece of advice you’ve been given?
  7. If you could have a dinner party with five people (living or dead) who would they be and why?
  8. If you could only use the products from one makeup brand, what brand would it be and why?
  9. What is one thing you are looking forward to?
  10. Would you rather live without music or television?
  11. Describe your go to makeup look that never fails to make you feel confident and beautiful.

Okay that’s all from me! I hope you enjoyed reading my responses and were able to learn a little something about me. I can’t wait to read the responses from all my nominees!

Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil Review

If you’re like me, you want to remove your makeup as quickly and effectively as possible. Like I love putting on makeup, but at the end of a long day, I sometimes just feel so unmotivated to sit there and spend 5 minutes taking it off. Lately I have been using the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water to remove all of my makeup, but like I said, it takes quite a bit of time and 2 cotton pads later to get most of my makeup off (still a really good product regardless!!) Then I happened to stumble upon this little guy and taking off my makeup got so much easier AND better for my skin!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

  • $5.99 at Winners (the Canadian version of Ross or Marshalls)
  • Formulated for dry skin
  • Contains Jojoba and Macadamia Oils to help replenish the skin’s moisture balance

  • Dissolves impurities and makeup
  • Replenishes skin
  • In 1 use: Skin feels deeply leaned, hydrates and skin feels velvety soft
  • After 1 week: 100% of women felt skin was smoother and softer

I have been wanting to write this review ever since I initially used this product, but I decided to wait a week because of the one week claim.

This is my first time ever using an oil to remove my makeup, so I wanted to make sure I followed the instructions exactly. You’re supposed to apply 1 – 2 pumps into your dry hands, massage it onto a dry face, then wet your face to emulsify and remove the oil. I noticed that it seemed to get to work immediately. It took maybe 20 seconds to completely take off my waterproof eye makeup, which is the one thing I always dreaded doing when I was using micellar water and cotton pads because of how time consuming it was for me. I also got a little bit of this in my eye on a couple of occasions, but it didn’t sting my eye or anything. Which is always a good thing, I think LOL. It also dissolves liquid lipstick really well with no challenge!

This rinsed off no problem, and although I always cleanse my face after taking off my makeup, I did notice that my skin did feel really smooth. If you were to use this as a makeup remover and face cleanser, you might feel as if there’s a small film on your skin (nothing gross or greasy feeling, it feels more like a film of moisture or a barrier on your skin), but I think this is because this product was made for dry skin, so it packs more moisture than normal. Of course I have no way of proving this, it’s just a theory I have. And yes, I can honestly say that after a week of using this, I have noticed that my skin does feel softer. Like I can’t stop touching my face right after I use this. I walk around my house like  img_0584, then I immediately have to stop because I shouldn’t be touching my face after I just washed it. And the moisture lasts throughout the night and into the next day. When I wake up, my skin feels just like it did when I went to be the night before.

The only thing I don’t like about this is not about the actual product itself, it’s about the packaging. The first time I used this, I laid it on it’s side in my skincare drawer and the next day when I went to use it again, there was a bit of leakage in my drawer. So I stored it right side up after I used it that night, but in the morning when I had to move it, there was a bit of oil on the sides and bottom of the bottle. So keep in mind that this leaks from the pump. Even when you go to pump product in your hand, oil will squirt out of the sides of the pump, so that’s something that needs to be fixed. I now store it standing up with a paper towel underneath it.

All in all, using this oil cut down my makeup removal time significantly but it removed all my makeup so effectively! And what I really love about this is that my skin never feels stripped of anything. I know that I will never go back to using makeup remover wipes, unless I absolutely need to use one, because I feel like after using a wipe, my skin can feel a bit stripped and makeup is not always removed effectively the first time.

  • Dissolves all traces of makeup without leaving any residue behind
  • Leaves skin feeling smooth and soft
  • Extremely gentle on skin
  • True to all claims
  • So inexpensive!! Only $6!

  • Leaks from the pump
  • Some people may find the scent a bit strong (however I personally don’t mind it)
  • Hard to find – I’ve never seen it in any drugstores, so if I hadn’t gone into Winners, I may have never known about this product

If you guys have any other cleansing oils you love, leave me some recommendations. I would love to try out new oils, after being converted to them because of this product. And thanks for reading this! I know sometimes my posts are really long, and I don’t have many followers, but I do like putting a lot of detail into reviews like these to help anyone make an informed decision! Haha okay bye have a good day!
